How many times do we stay in the same situation, regardless of how much it hurts, because we are too frightened to change?
It can feel draining to our spirit to deal with a barrage of lifestyle changes and “the straw that breaks the camel’s back” that can literal stop us in our tracks, making us feel ill equipped and leaving us not knowing what to do.
What if life threw you a curve ball and hit you with something you didn’t expect? Something that maybe you couldn’t handle on your own, such as a divorce, redundancy or illness, how would you cope? Often the logic in our head is clear and concise to help everyone else, but when change is forced on our self it can feel like a sucker punch to our emotions.
One of my clients was on the brink of losing everything that they held dear to them because of the choices they had made. They were trying to exist rather than trying to live. Sadly their story was similar to my own from two decades ago, but I helped them to avoid the pain that I had experienced and to benefit from the hard lessons I had learnt.
The only guarantee in life is “change” which can either be for the better or for the worse. It can be forced upon you or by your own choice and it can be a scary process even achieving what you really want to happen. It is understandable for you to feel uncomfortable when there is uncertainty and confusion.
“Change” can be a challenge or a chore. It can be exciting or frightening, but it’s your mind-set that is yours to choose. How you decide to approach “change” will determine the journey and the outcome. So will you allow someone else to map out your future or will you take control?
You would never drive your car with the handbrake on but so often that’s how we live our lives, allowing things that don’t serve us any longer to hamper our progress, so what is holding you back?
Now imagine you are driving along the road in an open top car on a sunny day without a care in the world, how would you feel? Hold that emotion as a motivator to get what you really want, because that will be the key to your version of freedom.
